New Lexington, OH

Investigation Start: 2000 (8:00pm)

Investigation End: 0430 (4:30am)

Investigators:  Ryan Wyse, Jeremy Weekly, Amber Flint, Kyle Weekly, & Dave Smith

Site Demographics:

The building's construction date is unknown, but looks to be built in the late 1800's. The county auditor's office does not have any actual construction dates of any buildings built prior 1900.  It is a two story, wood frame home, with a full basement .  The main floor of the home consists of a kitchen, living room, and a dining room/office.  The second floor consists of two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Investigation Report

Claims of Activity

The claims of activity are all located on the second floor.  Claims include the shower curtain be pulled open on its own, hearing of voices, strange knocks, doors slamming shut on their own, and objects moving on their own.

Equipment Location

  • 3 static IR cameras were placed in the home, one on the second floor in the daughter's bedroom, one in the hallway covering the entrances to all three upstairs rooms, and one on the second floor in the bathroom. These are all linked back to a DVR security system on a desktop computer.

  • Wireless audio was placed on the second floor in the daughter's bedroom.

  • Each investigation crew carried a Sony Nightshot Handicam, digital voice recorder, EMF/K-2 Meter, and digital thermocouple thermometer.

Investigation

  • While investigating the daughter's bedroom, we were able to capture an EVP.  Lead investigator Ryan asks if the entity died in the home.  Approx. 1 second later, you hear what sounds like a very soft "Ya," followed by a louder word which almost sounds like "residency."  This was not captured on the digital voice recorder or the high sensitivity wireless audio mic in the room.

  • While investigating in the master bedroom, investigator Kyle was lying down on the floor in an attempt to stay quiet and get a feel for the room.  At that time, he felt as if someone was applying pressure to his back with a fist.  He stated it felt like knuckles pressing into his back.  It didn't hurt him, but he did get temporarily startled.  We were unable to see anything unusual on the video or hear anything on audio.

  • While investigating the basement, an lead investigator Jeremy was sitting on the stairs when he heard what sounded like a footstep behind him on the stairs as if someone tapped their foot.  This was captured on the audio and video recorders, but nothing visual was captured.  During this same timeframe, an EVP was captured that sounds like it is saying "thirsty," but was can't be for sure.

  • While investigating the master bedroom, lead investigator Ryan and investigators Amber & Dave were remaining quiet to hear the house when they heard what sounded like a cable or cord hit up against a wall something of that nature.  Immediately afterward, lead investigator Jeremy called on the radio and advised that the camera in the bathroom had suddenly become fuzzy and the reception was poor.  This was all recorded on our video and audio recordings, however, nothing was noted on evidence review of the static cameras covering the areas.

  • Again when lead investigator Ryan and investigators Amber and Dave were in the master bedroom, there was a ring noise that suddenly came across the portable radio at command area.  This came across their radio, but did not come across our radio.  This was captured on audio recordings as well.

  • While investigating the master bedroom, lead investigator Jeremy asks the potential spirit for it's name.  There is an EVP about a second afterwards that sounds like it says "Michael."

Director's Report

After reviewing all of the evidence that has been gathered, along with the personal experiences that took place, we are not immediately ready to label the location as haunted, but we would feel safe to say that there is some paranormal activity.  Another investigation or two is necessary to be able to make a final ruling.  Since the most of the investigators know the homeowner personally and know him to be a credible person, we are not ready to walk away just yet.  The client does not feel threatened or scared of the activity, however, the client's girlfriend is scared of it and will not enter the home unless he is there with her.  An attempt to debunk the bathroom door slamming on it's own was attempted, but was unsuccessful.  Due to the design of the room and the way the pressure of the room is, it will not allow the door to slam shut unless you attempt it with all your strength.  The home is EMF flat, so there is really nothing to cause them to feel paranoid.  Background investigation is still ongoing at this point.  Due to the lack of historical records for the area, it is hard to find answers to what or who may be there.  It was reported by the client that when he purchased the home, he was advised that a pizza delivery man was murdered in front of his home.  This could not be confirmed by us, however, we were able to talk to a former resident of the area who advised that there was a murder of someone in the 1960's in that area, so they may be connected.  Another interesting point is that the client has recently told me that his next door neighbor is having activity as well and are interested in having us investigate.  Are these connected?  I don't know, but it does sound logical that they are.  The one thing that still sparks my interest of potential paranormal activity is the cord of camera hitting against the wall on it's own.  This camera was originally placed in the master bedroom before being moved to the bathroom when noises began happening in the that room.  This setup was recorded by one of our investigators with the mini DV camera, so anything that was done by us to cause this happening has been ruled out.  The cords were hanging freely from the camera and were not taped down, so there was no way for the tape to come unstuck and make it fall, nor is there any vent or any other natural way that we could find for the cords to begin moving on their own.  Hopefully, further investigations of the location will reveal something more concrete of paranormal activity or allow us give natural answers to occurrences of the location.
