Somerset, OH

Investigation Start: 2000 (8:00pm)

Investigation End: 2200 (10:00)

Investigators:  Ryan Wyse, Jeremy Weekly, Amber Flint, & Dave Smith

Site Demographics:

The building's construction date is unknown, but looks to be built in the late 1800's. The county auditor's office does not have any actual construction dates of any buildings built prior 1900.  It is a two story, wood frame home, with a basement accessible from the outside.  The main floor of the home consists of a kitchen, bathroom, living room, mud room, and two bedrooms.  The second floor consists of two bedrooms, which one of them has a small "cubby" type room that is built into the slop of the roof.

Investigation Report

Claims of Activity

The claims of activity are all located on the second floor, 90% of them being in the oldest daughter's bedroom.  Claims include the television stand moving on it's own, objects being thrown, radio dial changing stations on it's own, and footsteps on the second floor when no one is up there.

Equipment Location

  • 2 static IR cameras were placed in the home, one on the second floor in the oldest daughter's bedroom and one on the second floor in the room next to it. These are all linked back to a DVR security system on a desktop.

  • Wireless audio was placed on the second floor in the oldest daughter's bedroom.

  • Each investigation crew carried a Sony Nightshot Handicam, digital voice recorder, EMF/K-2 Meter, and digital thermocouple thermometer.

Investigation

Once we arrived at the location, it was discovered that the oldest daughter of the client, her boyfriend, and the daughters friend were all there.  The client advised that all of the children were to stay the night at the mother's house.  The daughter and her friends left the home for approx. 1 hour during the investigation.  We were unable to contact the client at the time to discuss the matter with him.  Due to the disruption of the children, our investigation was terminated after only 2 hours of investigating.  No findings were discovered in the evidence collected.

Director's Report

Due to the disruption of the client's daughter and friends, an effective investigation was unable to be performed.   Even though we did not find any evidence of paranormal activity in the short time we had to investigate, we did find that there is a high level of EMF in both bedrooms.  A large amount of EMF was discovered in the floor, which could be tracked along the floor to the little cubby room before it stops.  The same readings were also tracked downstairs along the ceiling, directly below the location upstairs, so something must be within the floor causing it.  There was a mattress that lies directly on top of this EMF, so there might be a possibility that the EMF is causing strange feelings or hallucinations.  EMF was also discovered in the other bedroom.  This was more widespread and not centrally located.  This to could be causing some hallucinations.  However, this does not explain the hearing of footsteps when everyone is downstairs, nor the changing of the channels.  Another investigation in a controlled environment would have to be performed.
