Private Residence "A"

2nd Investigation

New Lexington, OH

Investigation Start: 2000 (8:00pm)

Investigation End: 0530 (5:30am)

Investigators:  Ryan Wyse, Jeremy Weekly

Site Demographics:

The building's construction date is unknown, but looks to be built in the late 1800's. The county auditor's office does not have any actual construction dates of any buildings built prior 1900.  It is a two story, wood frame home, with a full basement .  The main floor of the home consists of a kitchen, living room, and a dining room/office.  The second floor consists of two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Background Investigation:

After performing much research into the property and it's previous owners, evidence was found that one of the home's original owners did pass away in the house.  An obituary stating this fact was discovered and the previous owner's name was Michael.  This was interesting, because one of the EVPs that was captured during the first investigation sounds like it says "Michael" when one of the investigators asked for the potential entity's name.

Investigation Report

Claims of Activity

The claims of activity are all located on the second floor.  Claims include the shower curtain be pulled open on its own, hearing of voices, strange knocks, doors slamming shut on their own, and objects moving on their own.

Equipment Location

  • 4 static IR cameras were placed in the home, one on the second floor in the daughter's bedroom, one in the hallway covering the entrances to all three upstairs rooms, and one on the second floor in the bathroom. These are all linked back to a DVR security system.

  • Wireless audio was placed on the second floor in the bathroom.

  • Each investigation crew carried a Sony Nightshot Handicam, digital voice recorder, EMF/K-2 Meter, and digital thermocouple thermometer.

Investigation

  • Shortly after arriving at the location, the two investigators began offloading the equipment into the home.  Lead investigator Ryan was showing lead investigator Jeremy the finding of the obituary of the former owner who had passed away in the home.  Jeremy said out loud the person's name where immediately afterward, there was a loud noise in the kitchen.  Both went and investigated, but could not find any logical explanation for it.

  • While setting up the static IR cameras on the second floor, a loud noise came from the bathroom.  Both investigators went to investigate where they had found a can of fragrance spray that was located on the back of the toilet had fallen off on it's own.  There was no logical outside force that could have caused.  There was a slop noted to the back of the toilet, so it may have slid down on it's own.

  • While sitting at command center, lead investigator Ryan turned up the thermostat to the home.  Approx. 5 minutes after this happened, the thermostat made the same beep noise that it makes when a button is pushed.  Investigation into the thermostat did not show any change in the temperature that we could see.  The thermostat was not touch the rest of the night and did beep again on it's own one more time approx. 2 hours later.  This never happened before on the first investigation.

Director's Report

Due to multiple last minute scheduling conflicts with a few of our investigators, this investigation left us short handed. However, we were able to still perform a thorough investigation.  With the finding at the local research areas and the previous investigation findings, we were more certain that we would find some definite evidence.  Wrong!  All the activity that we experienced that night occurred while we were setting up, so none of it was able to be captured.  The beeps from the thermostat were able to captured on wireless audio, but that is it.  We found nothing on video or audio evidence for the entire night other than those 2 beeps.  The reveal with the client showed that his thermostat has never made the beep noise on it's own; just when you push the buttons.  All evidence was revealed to him where he was not able to identify anything as normal sounds of the home or neighborhood.  The constant bumps throughout the night were captured periodically on audio, but a source is still unable to be found.  Contact with the client after these investigations revealed that they still have the loud bumps and thuds throughout the night and some nights are worse than others.  It is our opinion that the previous owner who passed away in the home is still there.  It doesn't seem to be threatening at all and at times, seems to actually be a help to the family based on some claims of activity.  The only help it isn't giving them is with their sleep!
